Bandsaw Blade Maintenance Tips
Note: Includes the Saw Blade Only
Pre-Use Inspection & Adjustment
Check bearings, bandsaw pulleys and drive belts at every blade change to ensure they are able to move freely.
Spray vegetable oil to lubricate the bearings if they are not moving smoothly.
Check pulleys for proper alignment, tension, and wear, adjust as needed, replace if damaged.
Check the belts for a secure fit and for signs of wear.
Use an air compressor to blow out all sawdust that has fallen inside the band saw.
New Blade Break-In Period
Wear down a new blade before formal use to avoid broken teeth. Reduce the speed to half of the normal level and lower the feed quantity, then return to normal speed after 3-5 cuts. This process will wear down the extra sharpness of the teeth, making the blade more durable.
Cutting Lubrication Guide
Lubrication is a must when cutting metal with your band saw. No matter what type of material you are cutting, never use water as a lubricant.
Daily Tension Management
Blade tension must be released when the bandsaw is not in use, to avoid long-term tension damage and extend the blade’s service life.
Regular Sharpening Maintenance
To get better cutting performance with your blade, it is important to sharpen it periodically, to maintain stable cutting accuracy and effect.
The 55 Inch SK5 Carbon Woodworking Bandsaw Blade is a cost-effective, reliable replacement option for your cutting equipment, delivering clean, accurate cutting results across various materials, and adapting to different woodworking and light metal cutting scenarios.
